Temporary Emergency Rental & Utility Assistance Notice

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Spokane Indian Housing Authority is the recipient of US Treasury funds for the Temporary Emergency Rental & Utility Assistance Program funds.  Please go to the following link for more information:  https://www.spokaneiha.com/applications-forms/  and the application forms and policy.  Any questions please contact Housing at 509 818-1460.

The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to Indian families who are in immediate need due to the COVID-19 pandemic: Preference will be given to Spokane Tribal Members and eligible households that include an individual who has been unemployed for the 90 days prior to application for assistance and households with income at or below 50 percent of the area median income. Financial assistance may include:

  • rent;
  • rental delinquencies;
  • utilities and home energy costs (Utilities include separately-stated electricity, gas, water and sewer, trash removal and energy costs, such as fuel oil);
  • utilities and home energy costs delinquencies;
  • funds may also be used for move-in assistance including: first and last month’s rent deposits;
  • and other deposits and other expenses related to housing incurred due, directly or indirectly, to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, as yet to be defined by the Secretary of the

Families must meet the HUD definition of low income defined as 80% of median income for the United States and reside on the Spokane Indian Reservation and the counties of Lincoln, Spokane, and Pend Oreille.

After completing the application, return it to our office in person, or by email, mail, and or place in our overnight drop-box, or fax (509) 258-7188.

 THIS PROGRAM IS TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE AND IS EXPECTED TO LAST NO MORE THAN ONE YEAR AND IS FOR RENTERS ONLY MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE IS NOT AVAILABLE. FUNDS CANNOT BE DUPLICATED FROM THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
