PURPOSE:

This position is to provide support to the Midnite Mine chemical precipitation water treatment plant and ancillary support facilities. The position is to provide services necessary to operate, repair, or maintain the Legacy and New Water Treatment Plant and support facilities at the Midnite Mine Site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Work under direct supervision of a Water Treatment lead Operator
1. Support site operations personnel
2. Maintain chemical reagent material balances
3. Measure flow and water levels
4. Maintain operational log sheets
5. Operate the filter press
6. Load super sacks into cart framework
7. Operate 12K telehandler
8. Load and secure transport trailer for off-site shipping (cover, tarp load)
9. Weigh loaded super sacks
10. Measure sludge levels in the clarifiers
11. Backwash media filters
12. Train to be ready for operating an automated water treatment facility
13. Work with Microsoft excel and word documents

• Maintenance of the plant and support facilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Replace and maintain equipment, controls, valves, and pipelines
2. Greasing equipment, changing equipment oil, changing and repairing motors/equipment, to include bearing, belt, and seal replacements.
3. Repositioning pit pumps and pipelines as needed during operations.
4. Operation of the filter press, including cleaning of the press and building
5. Clean water treatment facility
6. Clean sludge and lime lines and valves related to plant operation
7. Clean and calibrate plant instrumentation (pH and turbidity monitors)

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job duties include working within an environment that presents regular exposure to potential electric shocks, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and wet and humid environments. There is a potential to be exposed, occasionally, to extreme heat, cold, and slick working surfaces. Employees will be working around radioactive materials.

This position requires the ability to verbally communicate with individuals, hear verbal communications and operational noises, inspect items up close, lift, and walk. The individual is required to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or twist and occasionally is required to climb a ladder. The individual must regularly lift 10 pounds or less, frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 70 pounds. The individual will regularly fill out daily water treatment process reports, including radiation survey forms. The individual must have the ability to drive an automobile, have mechanical aptitude, and regularly use hand and electric tools. The individual will occasionally use a dust mask and half face respirator.

This is currently a seasonal operation at the existing legacy water treatment plant typically starting in March and ending in November operating a 24hr period 4 to 5 days a week. Once the new water treatment plant is constructed and commissioned in 2023 the position will require personnel to be on-site during day shift only on a rotating 7 day schedule January thru December. The individual will be required to work 12-hour shifts and must be willing to work days, nights, or weekends on his/her assigned schedule.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
The individual must have the ability to read, write, and understand English communications. The individual must complete an OSHA 40hr HAZWOPER course, Department of Transportation Hazardous materials shippers training course, and complete the Dawn Mining Company Radiation Safety Training course prior to beginning work activities. The individual will be required to pass a telehandler operators training course. The individual must have proof of a valid Washington State Driver’s License. The individual will be expected to have basic computer literacy. The individual must be able to pass either a medical evaluation questionnaire or medical examination, and a respirator fit test.
