INTRODUCTION:
The Water Resources Specialist will work on water quality, fisheries, and habitat issues within and surrounding the Spokane Indian Reservation. The Water Resources Specialist will organize, conduct, analyze and maintain water quality monitoring stations and analyze data on water consumption on the Reservation and upper watersheds. The Specialist will also work with Water and Fish staff and consultants to develop a Water Resources Management Plan, assist with stream bank stabilization projects, as well as assist in habitat and fisheries surveys. The Water Resources Specialist will also utilize computer programs, GPS units and other equipment needed to collect, enter and analyze data, as well as assist the project manager in writing and reviewing reports and proposals.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collect, maintain and analyze water quality and flow data
• Develop a Quality Assurance Project Plan and Sampling plans for water quality and stream flows.
• Gather, analyze and summarize water consumption within and surrounding the Reservation.
• Work with Water and Fish staff and consultants to develop a Water Resources Management Plan.
• Assist in implementing habitat restoration projects.
• Assist in conducting habitat and fisheries surveys.
• Assist project managers in writing and reviewing reports and proposals.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
• B.S. Biology, Ecology, Hydrology or other Natural Resource Related Field.
• Examples of scientific writing and references.
• Experience with Microsoft office suite and Arc GIS.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Boaters License (or will obtain one after hire)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• B.S. Biology, Ecology, Hydrology or other Natural Resource Related Field.
• Physically able to carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in inclement weather and willingness to spend extended time periods in the field.
• Must possess a valid Washington State Drivers License, and be tribally insurable.
• At time of employment must successfully clear a criminal background inquiry.
