TITLE:  TRIBAL CURRICULUM SPECIALISTS (4 POSITIONS)

STATUS:  TEMPORARY, PART-TIME (GRANT FUNDED TO 9/30/22)
RATE OF PAY:  $14.00/PER HOUR

INTRODUCTION:
Support the development, piloting, and full implementation of the Spokane Tribal History and Culture curriculum in the Wellpinit School District. As part of a team, design for delivery by classroom teachers, lessons on the history of the Spokane Tribe. This position allows for the opportunity to teach and learn alongside knowledgeable individuals about the history of the Spokane Tribe. Through sharing of experiences and stories, we will work together as a team to build a curriculum to share with our youth and community.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide in the assistance, development, and blending of the Spokane Tribal History, Science, and Leadership Curriculum with other relevant history provided by the Language and Culture Department, Department of Natural Resources, Elders, Community Members, Tribal Preservation and the Tribal Historical Preservation Office.
• Work with OSPI and Wellpinit School teachers and other agencies in aligning the Spokane Tribal Curriculum to state standards
• Identify Classroom Based Assessment opportunities throughout the curriculum and modify those CBA’s to be performance based to demonstrate application of learning.
• Assist in relevant cultural integration, as it relates to the curriculum, working in conjunction with Wellpinit School District staff across pertinent area.
• Align the Spokane Tribal Curriculum with Spokane Tribal values

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
• Provide in the assistance, development, and blending of the Spokane Tribal History, Science, and Leadership Curriculum with other relevant history provided by the Language and Culture Department, Department of Natural Resources, Elders, Community Members, Tribal Preservation and the Tribal Historical Preservation Office.
• Assist in relevant cultural integration, as it relates to the curriculum, working in conjunction with Wellpinit School District staff across pertinent area.
• Align the Spokane Tribal Curriculum with Spokane Tribal values
• Share life experience related to the Spokane Tribes way of living
• Share stories of your elders describing ways of living and historical events of the Spokane Tribal people.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be at least 18 years of age or older
• Must have knowledge of the history of the Spokane Tribe
• At time of employment must successfully clear a criminal background inquiry.

OTHER:
• Preference given to individuals knowledgeable about curriculum development
• Preference given to individuals who have worked with youth.
