INTRODUCTION:
The objective of the Spokane Tribal Park Ranger Division is the monitoring and preservation of all resources that the Spokane Tribe of Indians has or have had cultural or vested interests in. These resources include but are not limited to; lands, water, habitat, wild game monitoring, and preservation of culturally significant areas of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. The intent of this active enforcement, preservation and protection of these vital resources will be to safeguard these assets for future generations.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Spokane Tribal Park are responsible for the enforcement of all Federal, Tribal and State laws adopted by the Spokane Tribe of Indians. Park Rangers will be fully commissioned Law Enforcement Officers and will be responsible for the protection, safety and wellbeing of all person(s) and property under the jurisdiction of the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
• The Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will be tasked with the protection of all cultural and natural resources of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will actively patrol all waters within the jurisdiction of the Spokane Tribe of Indians, which includes, but is not limited to:
1. Inland Lakes & Ponds
2. Rivers
3. Streams & Creeks
4. Wetlands
• Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will actively patrol all lands within the jurisdiction of the Spokane Tribe of Indians, which includes, but is not limited to:
1. Lands within the exterior boundaries of the Spokane Indian Reservation
2. Lands outside the exterior boundaries of the Spokane Indian Reservation that are owned or has cultural and/or legal interests by the Spokane Tribe of Indians

• Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will assist with the preservation and enforcement of all laws governing the use and protection of the Spokane Tribal hunting and fishing rules and regulations. In addition Park Rangers will assist the Department of Natural Resources with the preservation and management of all natural resources of the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
• Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will be responsible for issuance and enforcement of all Hunting, Fishing and Camping permits authorized and issued by the Spokane Tribe of Indians and the collection of all fees associated with authorized permits.
• Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will assist and work cooperatively with all agencies assigned with the protection and enforcement of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. These agencies will include but are not limited to Department of Natural Resources, Colville Confederated Tribes, National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Washington State and local County Law Enforcement agencies when applicable.
• Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will actively investigate, when called upon, all crimes, civil or criminal, against person(s), property and the Spokane Tribe of Indians. This will include but is not limited to crimes covered under seven major crimes, traffic offenses, ARPA violations, NAGPRA violations, Spokane Tribal Council resolution violations and any other applicable laws recognized by the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
• Spokane Tribal Park Rangers will safeguard and maintain all equipment that is needed to perform the duties assigned.
• Other duties assigned related to the program.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
• Must be able to gather information and complete detailed reports.
• Operate vehicles in all weather & road conditions.
• Communicate effectively and coherently over law enforcement radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in person, on the telephone, and in written format.
• Knowledge of the laws and ordinances governing local law enforcement.
• Load, unload, aim and fire weapons at levels of proficiency of certification standards.
• Maintain and use efficiently all department issued equipment.
• Familiar with the Spokane Tribal Park Ranger Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Must have the ability to work/drive in adverse weather conditions and rough terrain.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age; proof required.
• Applicants must be of high moral character, and possess the personal integrity to handle the stress of the position.
• Must successfully clear an extensive Criminal Background Inquiry.
• Must have successfully completed/graduated from a Basic Law Enforcement Academy. (FLETC)
• Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be tribally insurable. A driver’s abstract from D.O.L. will be a requirement.
• Must be physically capable of performing the position functions and meet the Physical Fitness requirements outlined in the Spokane Tribal Park Ranger Policy and Procedure Manual. Must be able to lift or pack objects weighing 40 lbs. or more.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, holidays, and weekends.

OTHER:
• Must possess/maintain or acquire basic first aid/CPR and blood borne pathogens certification within 90 days of employment commencing.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
• If applying as Lateral you must have credentialing in good standing from the Federal Law Enforcement Center (FLETC), Washington State or from another State that is recognized by FLETC in order to receive lateral consideration.

• Trainee must be at least 21-years of age and no older than 57-years of age at the time of application. Proof of age is required at the time of application. (A copy of legal photo ID: Federal, State or Tribal is required with application)

Note: This position has been identified as a “Safety Sensitive” position. This position is subject to pre-employment and post-accident drug testing.
