New Spokane Tribe Executive Director Ted Wright

The Spokane Tribe of Indians hires new Executive Director Ted Wright
Ted Wright got into managing tribal governments upon completion of a doctoral dissertation at Penn State University titled: “A Case Study & Theoretical Analysis of the Problem of Power for American Indian and Alaska Native Tribes.” It was really about why some tribes successfully pull together to develop healthy, growth economies while some do not.
“I’ve managed my own Alaska Tribe twice as well as other tribal governments in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. I alternate this kind of work with university work, as there is a high degree of burn-out attached to leading change in tribal communities. Among others, I was on the faculty at Antioch University Seattle and served as a a Vice President of University Services and Dean at Haskell Indian Nations University.” Ted commented “My goals for helping lead the Spokane Tribe of Indians are to create a more agile, efficient and productive government with cooperation and customer service at its core.”
Ted has a son who is a physician in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine working in Alaska and Washington State.
Ted hopes to get around and meet more of the STOI Tribal Citizens as the virus retreats and/or we have an effective vaccine. His final comments were “Let’s keep a safe distance, wear our masks and avoid gatherings outside our immediate household.”
