The Planning & Public Works Department is responsible for development projects and utilities management for the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
Our Planning Program conducts development services such as project management, asset mapping, tribal historic preservation, grant writing, and most importantly, conducts community engagement, when planning for new and existing capital facilities, utilities, transit services, and roads.
Programs under the Planning and Public Works Department include Planning, Transit, Utilities, Roads, Facilities & Maintenance, and the Tribal Historic Preservation Office. Specific services that are offered to the community are trash service, water & wastewater services, new water, and septic connections, bus & employee vanpool service, roads maintenance, construction & snow plowing service, and soon, internet services.
Our policy is to provide as much information to the community as we can by all lines of communication — whether the Rawhide printed paper, digital Rawhide via Facebook, the Spokane Tribal Member Portal, flyers, community boards, tribal employee emails, member texts, or the “moccasin telegraph” aka word of mouth. We are also extremely interested in hearing from you. Please share your questions, comments, concerns, compliments, or complaints with us — preferably in writing so we can hold ourselves accountable to you. If you would like to reach out, please contact the Department Director who is located on the 2nd Floor of the Tribal Administration Building.
