CARES Emergency Housing Assistance

CARES emergency funds are now available to assist American Indians facing financial difficulties during the COVID Pandemic.
The purpose of the COVID-19 emergency housing assistance is to provide emergency temporary housing assistance to Indian families who are in immediate need of shelter because they are either homeless or about to become homeless, including those living in unsafe conditions.
Families must meet the HUD definition of low income defined as 80% of median family income for the United States and reside on the Spokane Indian Reservation and the counties of Lincoln, Spokane, and Pend Oreille.

Funds may be used for the following:
• Move-In Assistance: First & Last Month’s Rent Deposits
• Rental Assistance
• Mortgage Assistance

Please visit our website to print the COVID-19 Emergency Housing Assistance Application and Policy Guidelines or call the SIHA Administration office at 509-818-1460 to request a copy be mailed and or drop by the SIHA Administration Office to pick one up.
Once the application is complete, please return it to our office by; email, fax to 509- 258-7188, drop box (in front of the office), or return by mail.
A SIHA staff person will contact you to go over your application.
