Position Summary:

The Director, as Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for executing policies and implementing goals through the day-today management of the institution. The Director has authority to administer and manage the college.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, the Governing Board, and the public.  The Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for carrying out the written directions of the Trustees as a whole.

Position Responsibility:

  • Represent the college to its constituency, Tribal community, accrediting agencies, State and Tribal Government;
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and the overall financial management of the college;
  • Provide leadership in long range planning and in attaining the goals set by the college;
  • Serve as the administrator of the college personnel system;
  • Responsible for leading the college in accreditation and self-study processes and  to ensure attainment of the college goals and accreditation standards;
  • Responsible for annual reports to the Tribal government(s) Maintain communication with other colleges/universities, Tribal government, tribal departments, and local Indian communities.

Minimum Qualification:

A doctorate degree is preferred. Master’s degree in Education or related field and at least two years experience in management or supervision is required. Preference will be given to those who have experience with Salish Tribal traditions and culture.

  • Knowledge of post-secondary education and the general operations of a Tribal College;
  • Washington State Driver’s License, good driving record
  • Federal Background check mandatory
  • Have good communications and leadership skills;
  • The ability to work cooperatively with all administrators, staff, Governing Board, Tribal Councils, Tribal departments, and Tribal community in a positive manner;
  • A willingness to work in a participatory human resource management style where everyone is included in the decision making process and empower staff and students;

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Administrative positions, site managers, and Student counselors, Instructors, etc.
